Member-Owned, Farmer-Led

Fair Capital, Shared Future

Joined Hands Cooperative Credit union empowers smallholder farmers with harvest-aligned microfinance and shared agricultural equipment, fostering independence and regional prosperity.

Our Guiding Principle

When small farms pool credit, knowledge, and equipment, the entire Cooperative prospers.

We believe in the power of collective action to secure financial independence and uplift agricultural yields for every farming family.

Our Roots

From Local Need to Cooperative Strength

Founded by local farmers who experienced the limitations of predatory saving and lending, Joined Hands Cooperative Credit Union emerged from a shared vision for sustainable growth. Our initial efforts focused on pooling resources to construct a central grain depot, ensuring fair prices and reducing post-harvest losses and saving for our members.

This foundational project quickly demonstrated the power of cooperative action. By uniting, farmers gained access to better market terms and laid the groundwork for the harvest-aligned microfinance models that define our institution today.

Shared Leadership

Democratic Structure, Farmer-Led Decisions

Our cooperative is built on the principle of “one member, one vote,” ensuring that every member has an equal opportunity to contribute to the decisions that shape our organization. Regardless of the size of a member’s savings, farm, or financial contribution, every voice carries equal weight in our democratic governance structure. This approach promotes transparency, accountability, inclusion, and shared ownership. Smallholder farmers are directly represented in our leadership and on our board, allowing them to actively participate in developing policies, programs, and services that respond to their real needs. By putting farmers at the heart of decision-making, we ensure that our cooperative remains accountable to its members and focused on improving their economic well-being, agricultural productivity, and livelihoods.

All interest earned stays within our regional farming ecosystem, reinvested into community projects, equipment upgrades, and expanded micro-loan programs. This commitment to local impact strengthens our collective future.
